Philadelphia, April 18, 2008, NewDirectionPhilly.org has identified five progressive democratic candidates, 3 of which are challenging entrenched incumbents, one progressive Freshman State Rep., and for the State Legislature in North, Northwest, West, South Philadelphia Center City and the Lower Northeast.
"These candidates have all benefited from the groundswell of activity surrounding Barack Obama and like him, are working hard to increase the number of new voters-many of whom will be turning out to support Senator Obama in their respective districts. NewDirectionPhilly.org believes that by endorsing and supporting this slate of candidates, we can add votes to Senator Obama's total plurality of progressive voters and add to the growing strength of the progressive movement in Philadelphia politics," stated NewDirectionPhill.org chair, Alan Sandals.
